Station 71 was alerted at 09:15 to assist DNREC with a reported oil spill at the Marina in Blades. Upon arrival of 71 Command with Past Deputy Chief David Ruff, DNREC Officer requested that the boom be pulled across the entrance of Marina. Rescue Boat 71 with Assistant Chief Chad Passwaters and crew arrived on scene and was requested to put the boat in the water to secure the boom, Boat 71 made a quick response on the Nanticoke to see if any of the oil had entered the River channel. Upon finding the boat and entering it was found to have a broken fuel line, at that time the fuel line was shut off and oil spill mats were put down to absorb the fuel. The situation was brought under control at 09:50, the scene was turned over to DNREC and all units returned to station. Other units responding were Utility 71-8 with Boat 71, Rescue 71, B-71 and Command.
